Contributing Writer Bios

Carol Gniady
Carol Gniady is executive director of Public Relations and Marketing at Delgado.  She is a native New Orleanian who lives in the Marigny.  Her career in communications and marketing includes WGSO-AM/WQUE-FM, WWL-TV, International Marketing Systems, Monkey Hill Records, and the New Orleans Film Society.  She is a graduate of Loyola University of New Orleans and recently received her master’s degree from Capella University.  She is currently taking bass lessons through Delgado’s Music department.

Tony Cook
 Tony Cook is assistant director of Marketing and Public Relations at Delgado. His career in higher education advancement includes Tulane University, West Virginia University, State University of New York at Binghamton, and State University of New York at Potsdam. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and holds master’s degrees from Syracuse University and the University of Toledo.

Hilton Guidry
Hilton Guidry is Webmaster at Delgado Community College. He was born and raised on the westbank and moved to the northshore 10 years ago where he now lives with his wife Carolyn and newly adopted baby girl Isabella from China. Hilton is a graduate of UNO with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications.


Bob Monie
Robert "Bob" G. Monie grew up in New Orleans and worked for over 20 years at Delgado Community College, first on contract as a records analyst, then a student notetaker for the old deaf education program, and finally an assistant enrollment advisor in the office of admissions and enrollment services. He has many years' experience giving tours of the City Park Campus to prospective students and their parents and friends. For him, Delgado has been a family affair: his father, Peter A. Monie, taught aircraft maintenance to Army Air Corps soldiers sent for training to the City Park Campus from 1943 until the end of World War II, and his older sister, Gloria Monie Power, taught at Delgado in the business studies department for over 25 years. For his history, he sometimes draws on stories his father and sister told about the campus, as well as published sources. He is now retired and enjoys organic vegetable gardening, classical music and jazz, and writing about New Orleans history.

Leslie Salinero
Leslie Terrell Salinero is Publications Coordinator at Delgado Community College. A native of St. Bernard Parish, she holds an M.A. in English from UNO and is an organist and a singer in the contemporary praise band at First English Lutheran Church in Metairie. She occasionally participates in public poetry readings of her original work with the Northshore group “Poets Alive.” She currently resides in Destrehan with her husband of five years, Christian.

Dee Shedrick
Dee Shedrick is a freelance writer, copywriter, ghostwriter and blogger from New Orleans. Currently, she is the editor of The Dolphin newspaper at Delgado Community College and a reporter for The Lens covering local charter school board meetings. She loves writing stories of general interest and has been published in The New Orleans Tribune and was a stringer for the Associated Press during the 2010 elections. She is the mother of a beautiful cat named Toulouse and is in the process of receiving her journalism degree. You can read more of her work at womenwhorockblog.com.

Tyler Scheuermann
Tyler Scheuermann is a third generation member of the Delgado Athletic Department staff. He is a recent graduate of Delgado, receiving his Associate's Degree in Print Broadcast Journalism/Public Relations last May. He is continuing prerequisite coursework for an eventual degree in Sports Management. While a student at Delgado, Tyler has been a member of the Honors Program, Phi Theta Kappa and Sigma Chi Eta honor societies, named to the Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges, and a writer for Delgado's college newspaper, The Dolphin. In addition to his academic work, Tyler also serves as the College's Sports Information Officer and baseball operations coordinator. He is the son of Delgado Head Baseball Coach Joe Scheuermann and the grandson of Delgado's longtime baseball coach "Rags" Scheuermann.

Andrew Lopez
Andrew Lopez is Coordinator of Access Services/Reference at Delgado Community College Library. He actually enjoys reading and researching in his free time. As a freelance book indexer, he also enjoys indexing books. When he is not obsessing over what he hasn’t read, he likes riding his bicycle all over the city, visiting farmers markets and book shops, and preparing food with local ingredients. He has a bachelor’s degree (BA) in philosophy and French from Temple University in Philadelphia, and a master’s degree (MLS) in library and information studies from McGill University in Montreal.
